Vermont Department of Fish & Wildlife

Eighty-five percent of the land in Vermont is privately owned, which makes landowners vital partners in the Department's mission to conserve fish and wildlife habitat. The Landowners’ Guide, Wildlife Habitat Management for Lands in Vermont was developed as a tool to help landowners, foresters, wildlife biologists, and others manage land for the benefit of fish and wildlife. We collaborated with VDF&W staff, various wildlife photographers, and artist Adelaide Tyrol to create the 142-page, full-color guide, which recently won an award from the Association for Conservation Information. This publication fits well with the work we did on the agency’s BioFinder, a website where landowners can use a sophisticated database to identify land and water ecosystems, natural communities, habitats, and species.
